WHAT a festive treat it was to be taken on a magical journey through Father Christmas’s Christmas Workshop at Proteus Creation Space.

After five previous sell-out Christmas shows, Scratch Built Productions bring their new show to the Creation Space this December, aimed at pre-school children and their families.

The enchanting, interactive show invites children to enter Santa’s workshop where his charming elves are busy making toys for all the good boys and girls.

Experienced elf Clive welcomes new recruit Charlie and shows her the ropes, but her first day doesn’t go according to plan and ends in disastrous and hilarious consequences, much to the amusement of the children watching.

The walkthrough adventure utilises all the rooms at the Creation Space, each transformed to help tell the story; from Santa’s workshop to a winter wonderland garden, it was truly magical and inspiring.

The children’s faces lit up in anticipation as they were led through to different scenes, following the adorable Charlie as she searched for Father Christmas to enlist his help in uniting a toy with its rightful owner.

There were bubbles, songs, puppets, music and even a ball pit for the children to enjoy.

Then Father Christmas himself made an appearance to deliver a present to all the children, ending the adventure on a high.

The show was completely different to a traditional sit-down production, and children were encouraged to explore, play, create and interact in the enchanting surroundings, making it a relaxed and enjoyable experience for adults too, not having to worry about little ones sitting still.

The delightful festive experience was engaging, charming and magical.

My three-year-old son and his cousins were mesmerised. When my nephew was given a piece of Christmas wrapping paper by Charlie he clutched it for the rest of the show before proudly showing it to his Grandad who had also come along to enjoy the fun.

The three generations of our family absolutely loved the whole experience, and will definitely be keeping a look at what Scratch Built Productions put on in the future.

The show runs until Tuesday, December 24. To book tickets visit proteustheatre.com.
