A MAN who says his home was broken into has spoken of how the incident has left him feeling “violated” and ruined his Christmas.

Shaun Miles’s house, on Wilmott Way in Winklebury, was allegedly broken into on Thursday, December 12 by a group that smashed the glass pane on his back door.

Nothing was taken, but CCTV revealed that the intruders were just feet away from Shaun, who was sleeping, on the landing outside his bedroom.

He was awoken by the floorboards creaking, and managed to chase them away.

Since then, he has not been able to sleep.

“I felt really violated,” Shaun told the Gazette. “It felt like someone had been in my home, and what was they going to do?

“They were heading to my bedroom, what were they going to do to me?”

Shaun says that he is “scared to death”, and has made an appointment with his doctor as he is “worried”.

“Christmas is cancelled now, I don’t want to be in my own home.

“This is where the Christmas dinner was going to be, all the family was going to come over, but I can’t be in my own home.”

He says that he was going to try and stay at a friend’s over the Christmas period to get away from the area.

He also believes he may have been targeted because he is gay.

“I’ve seen so much go on since I’ve been here and it’s disgusting.

“It has got worse.”

When asked what he would say to the people who broke into his house, he said: “What if it happened to your nan? Your mum? Your sister? What are you going to feel like? Go and do it to a member of your family and then see what happens.”

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has asked anyone with information to come forward.

They told the Gazette: “I can confirm we have received a report of a burglary at an address in Wilmott Way on December 12.

“Offenders forced entry to the home around 11.15pm.

“Nothing has been reported as stolen. Anyone with information should call 101, quoting 44190447163.”
