IT SEEMS rather ironic that Stagecoach, in their wisdom, chose to display one of their new fleet of 32 buses outside the Willis Museum at the Top of The Town.

With now so many of their buses no longer servicing the area, and preventing more people easy access to the Top of The Town, decreasing yet further footfall to the already struggling day-time traders.

With the number 76 bus being the most recent to have an 'improved and faster' re-route.

Therefore no longer travelling along Worting Road toward Winton Square, which served Morrisons, the cemetery, BCoT, doctors and dentist surgeries, which now also prevents people living along that route from travelling toward Andover.

Does either the south's managing director of stagecoach, Edward Hodgson or Councillor Simon Bound, travel by bus? I doubt it.

Do they have any idea how much disruption this decision has caused for a lot of people and just how many more buses they now have to use to get to their chosen destination?

Adding more travel and waiting time to their journey - a 'cleaner and greener' experience. I don't think so.

But hey, the new buses provide USB charging points and Wii, so you can sit glued to your smart phone throughout your journey instead of interacting with fellow passengers.

Well that's alright then.
