The  Highways Agency has released the road works taking place on main routes in the Hampshire and southern area  over the next  week.

M3 junction 5 Hook, Hampshire:

Vegetation management Work to maintain the vegetation and sightlines at junction 5 finishes this week. A lane closure will be in place on the southbound exit and entry slip roads, and on the roundabout, between 9.30am and 3.30pm, until Friday 13 December.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire:

Daily Echo:

Drainage Work to maintaining the drainage system at junction 6 continues this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads and the southern side of the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 19 December. Signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M3 junctions 11 to 10 Winchester, Hampshire:

Bridge joint Work to maintain journeys by undertaking maintenance to the bridge which carries the M3 over the railway line continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the M3 north and southbound carriageways from 9pm on Friday 13 December through to 6am on Monday 16 December.

M4 junctions 15 Swindon, Wiltshire to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire:

Resurfacing Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the M4 near Baydon starts this week. The M4 eastbound carriageway will be closed from junction 15 to junction 14 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 December for five nights.

A signed diversion will be in place via the A346 south to Marlborough, east along the A4 towards Hungerford, then north on the A338 to join the M4 at junction 14.

M4 junctions 3 at Hayes to 12 at Theale, Berkshire:

Upgrade to smart motorway Work to improve journeys by converting the M4 into a smart motorway between Junctions 3 at Hayes to Junction 12 at Theale continues this week. 24 hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction are in place for sections of this stretch of the M4. Carriageway and slip road closures are planned as follows, all fully closed overnight (traffic management will usually be rolled out from 9pm and taken off by 6am).

There are overnight carriageway closures booked as follows. There are no slip road closures booked at present.

• The eastbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions 12 (Theale) and 11 (Reading) will be closed overnight on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 December. Diversions will be in place via the A4 and the A33.

• The westbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions 11 (Reading) and 12 (Theale) will be closed overnight on Thursday 12 December. Diversions will be in place via the A33 and the A4.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire:

Bridge reconstruction Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week. A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 east and westbound carriageways beneath the bridge until winter.

M27 junctions 4 Southampton to 11 Fareham, Hampshire:

Smart motorway Work to improve journeys by converting the M27 into a smart motorway continues this week. 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until 2021.

A3(M) junction 2 Horndean, Hampshire: barrier replacement Work to ensure road user safety by replacing a section of safety barrier along the A3(M) northbound carriageway near Horndean continues this week. The A3(M) northbound carriageway from junction 2 to junction 1 will be closed overnight (between 9pm and 6am), until Thursday 19 December (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via the B2149, north on the A3 to re-join the A3 northbound at junction 1.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey:

Electrical maintenance Work to relocate signal controllers in the cross-passages of the Hindhead Tunnel continues this week. The northbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 9 December. Traffic will run in contraflow through the southbound tunnel.

In addition, the southbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 10 December for 4 nights. Traffic will run in contraflow through the northbound tunnel.

A3 Guildford, Surrey:

Slip road widening Work to improve safety by widening the southbound slip road at the University Interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes are in place on the A3 northbound carriageway and University exit slip road 24 hours a day until March 2020.

A31 Wimborne Minster, Dorset:

Street lighting Work to improve journeys by renewing the street lighting at the Lake Gates roundabout continues this week. The A31 eastbound and westbound carriageways between the Merley roundabout and the Roundhouse roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 19 December (Monday to Friday only).

Traffic wanting to travel westbound on the A31 will be diverted south on the A341 and onto the A349, continue south then west onto the A350/A35, then north on the A350 to Roundhouse roundabout Traffic wanting to travel eastbound on the A31 will be diverted south on the A350 at Roundhouse roundabout to the A35, then west on the A35 to the A349, then north on the A341 to the Merley roundabout Traffic wanting to join the A31 from the northern side of Lake Gates roundabout will be diverted towards Wimborne Minster, then along the B3073 Oakley Hill to either pick up the main diversion for A31 westbound or join the A31 eastbound at the Merley roundabout

A34 Whitchurch, Hampshire:

Bridge repairs Work to replace a joint in the bridge which carries the A34 over the River Test continues this week. The A34 northbound carriageway from the A303 Bullington Cross junction to the B4640 Tot Hill junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 December for six nights (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via the A303 to Basingstoke, Basingstoke ring-road and the A339 towards Newbury.

A34 Oxfordshire:

Junction improvements Work to refresh the road markings and install LED road studs at the West Ilsley junction, Chilton junction, Milton Interchange, Hinksey Hill junction and the Botley Interchange, continues this week. The A34 southbound carriageway from the A4130 Milton Interchange to the M4 Chieveley junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 December for three nights. A signed diversion will be in place via the A417, A338 and A4.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire:

Drainage Work to ensure safety by maintaining the drainage system at the A420 Botley Interchange continues this week. The A34 southbound entry slip road at the Botley Interchange and lane 1 of the main southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 19 December (Monday to Friday only). A signed diversion will be in place via the Peartree Interchange and return.

A303 Andover, Hampshire:

Resurfacing Work to improve journeys by repairing a section of the A303 westbound carriageway takes place this week. The A303 westbound carriageway from the A3093 Picket Twenty junction to the A343 Salisbury Road junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 12 December. A signed diversion will be in place via the Andover ring-road.
