I AM writing to the editor about the subject of the onetime marvellous but now forgotten level of Post Office service.
Do you remember the smart, modern shop at the Top of Town? Before the move to WH Smiths, the branch had been fully modernised, offering full counter services, well-staffed with controlled queues and with limited waiting times.
The current service at the Post Office counters within the store in Festival Place is a far cry from what we expect. Regularly, there is just one person in attendance at the main counter, with ten or more in the queue waiting patiently.
Despite a written apology from Customer Services, one is left with the conclusion that the reduction in standards is a permanent decision. Is it any wonder that more of us now conducting our shopping at home in front of a computer?
