A DRIVER has said witnesses were “completely surprised” to see everyone walk away from a “major collision” that happened on Saturday night.
Shakeeb Shaikh was travelling on the A30 London Road towards Hook just after the Black Dam roundabout when he recalls that a driver overtook him and lost control on the wet road.
“I was driving and this car overtook me,” he told the Gazette, re-living the terrifying experience.
“Further down the road there was a puddle of water. The car skidded and went around, hitting the trees and came back onto the road.
“I hit his car. My car was completely damaged and his car was completely damaged.”
He described how witnesses to the event were “completely surprised” to see both drivers walk away uninjured, and said he was in shock at the time.
“I thought it was the end of my days,” Shakeeb continued.
The crash took place at about 11.25pm, and involved Shakeeb’s Citroen C3 and a Ford Focus.
Three police cars were sent to the scene.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called at 11.39pm following reports of a collision on the A30 London Road, involving two cars. No injuries. No arrests.”
