TWO fire crews were called out to an incident on the M3 yesterday evening.

The incident, which took place at around 5.30pm, saw two crews from Basingstoke called out to the scene, between junctions six and five, to make the scene safe.

The two engines were released after less than 45 minutes on scene.

Alex Burrows, who rang the police after the incident, said: "Initially I thought it was a 2 vehicle RTC.

"All persons were in lane 3 whilst traffic still moving, I managed to get them to safety behind barrier whilst Hants traffic units were deployed and stuck on rolling road block."

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 5.36pm and the stop message came in at 6.12pm.

"Two engines from Basingstoke attended and we ensured the scene was safe.

"There was nobody trapped in the vehicles, just a car stopped on the hard shoulder."
