Profession before becoming an MP: I was a publican. I had a pub in Devon for 23 years, and then in Yateley for 5 years. I'm the leader of the Monster Raving Loony Party and on December 1st of this year, I will be the longest serving leader ever, overtaking Clement Attlee, who is also from Fleet.

Family: I’ve been married, I am a widower. I have 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

What car do you drive? At the moment a Ford Focus. I’ve got a loan car from the garage.

Where did you last go on holiday? Last time I went on holiday was to Lanzarote, last March.

What was the last thing you ate? Steak and Kidney Pie.

Have you ever taken illegal drugs? Never in my life.

When was the last time you cried? In 2008. My wife died.

What is your favourite book of all time? I like autobiographies about people’s lives. I liked the musical ones, the rock and rollers and the country and western stars.

What are you ties to the area you hope to represent? I live here, in Fleet!

What’s your favourite restaurant in North East Hampshire? I do like Indian food, and I guess you’ve got lots of choice in North East Hampshire and they’re all pretty good.

Where do you do your food shopping? Anywhere there is a free car park!

Describe your perfect Friday night: Going down to my local Wetherspoons and meeting up with my friends. Prince Arthur in Fleet.

What’s your favourite drink? I do love milk. Milk is one of the best drinks in the world. But if I go to the public house I do like a pint of cider.

Best place in Hampshire in your opinion? Prince Arthur in Fleet! Because it’s my local pub.

Do you think MPs should be allowed to hire their family members? I would probably say, in some cases, yes.

In a sentence, why do you deserve the gig? I am the leader of the party that’s on everyone’s side no matter what political persuasion they are. I am the leader of the party everyone loves.

What do you think the biggest issue facing residents of North East Hampshire is? Building on lots of green spaces.

In a sentence, what do you want to change if you are elected? I’d like everybody to be happy and be polite where they’d live. I’d like everyone to get on with each other, I’d campaign on ‘things’, things that need to be done, and things that make people happy.
