A BASINGSTOKE will doctor stand trial today (November 18) charged with causing the death of a motorcyclist by careless driving.

Dr Sarah Holton, of Broadleaf Close, Kempshott, has been charged in relation to an incident which took place in June last year, where she was arrested for causing death by careless driving.

The 42-year-old is accused of death by careless driving after her car crashed with a motorbike at a crossroads near Stockbridge, resulting in the death of devoted father Andrew Mayer, 61.

The vehicles crashed at the crossroads with the B3420 and Newton Lane, near Stockbridge,

In a tribute to Mr Mayer, of Fairways, Andover, his family said: "He was a devoted father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.

“His family and friends are left devastated by the sudden loss. No words can truly describe how deeply missed he will be.”

The trail will being today at Winchester Crown Court.
