COMING to Basingstoke this Saturday (November 16) the ‘wonderfully warm hearted’ story of a Star in the Jar will be showing in the Creation Space.

This tale, originally told in book form, has been brought to life by Premier Children’s Theatre Company and The Pied Piper Theatre Company, to bring joy to the younger ages.

The story is told on the basis of ‘celebrating sibling love, the power of kindness and the joy of doing the right thing’ and has been adapted into a stage performance by Tina Williams (Pied Piper’s Artistic Director).

This new performance carries the same traits of the original story, written as a picture book by Sam Hay and illustrated by Sarah Massini, however, it has been reworked into a real-life show.

From the synopsis of the Star in the Jar, it takes the reader on a journey through the eyes of a little boy who happens to ‘stumble across a special star’.

The boy, taking interest in the star, decides to place it in a jar for safe keeping, but where the boy enjoys the star’s company on his adventures, the star begins to miss it’s home.

So, the little boy embarks on the biggest journey of his life, working with his big sister to decipher a way of sending the star ‘safely’ back to where it belongs. Still, can he do it, or will all of his efforts be lost in the tide of time?

It’s relatable, ‘with characteristic flair and inspirational creativity’, using all methods possible to connote the true meaning behind the performance whilst keeping it interesting and easy on the younger theatregoers.

“Using word play, rhyme, original music, and songs, to lift Star in the Jar from page to stage. With a talented professional cast and an ingenious set, Star in the Jar will instantly capture and excite the imaginations of those aged 3 to 8 years and their families.”
