SHERFIELD school has issued a warning after a fake website was set up to sell tickets to their sold-out fireworks event.

The event, taking place tonight, is in popular demand after the last-minute cancellation of Basingstoke Firework Spectacular due to take place at War Memorial Park.

However staff from the independent day-school have warned there are no more tickets available.

A spokesman for the school said: “We have been informed that a fake Facebook account has been set up and is selling fireworks tickets for tonight’s event. Please be advised these tickets are not genuine and cannot be accepted on the door this evening.

“The fake tickets have a number of errors on them including spelling of the School’s name and the date sold which is inconsistent with our ticket release date. Stringent ticket checks will be in operation this evening if you have bought your ticket via any source other than through ticket source directly please check your ticket before travelling to the school. If you have any questions please call us directly or email a copy of your ticket through to info@sherfieldschool.co.uk who will check it’s validity.

“We appreciate the frustration that this may cause to the victims of this fraud. Unfortunately as the event is sold out we are unable to issue replacement tickets to those affected. We urge anyone that has purchased a fake ticket to report the incident through Facebook.”
