IT TAKES a brave driver to head under a low bridge without considering the height restrictions.
And most motorists would admit to subconsciously ducking when approaching such a bridge, even if there is ample room.
Unfortunately this wasn't the case for this unlucky van driver this evening, who was caught out while attempting to pass under the infamously low-lying bridge which goes under the A3010 near Festival Place.
The underpass, which has a signage stating its restrictions of 7ft 3in (2.2m), was busy due to the Friday night rush hour traffic.
Fellow motorists were forced to mount the curb and drive along the pavement as the van driver called for help.
The van pictured belongs to hiring company 4 Rent Vehicle Hire.
