A LANDSLIP has caused disruption on a B-road near Whitchurch this morning (Saturday).

The incident happened overnight when the dirt bank in the front garden of a property on London Road burst through the wooden fence that had been containing it.

Soil and planks were strewn into the eastbound lane heading out of the town, but despite the obstruction there is still space for vehicles to pass along the road.

The owner of the affected property was seen dealing with the incident just after 9.30am setting up cautionary road signs. He said he would be starting the clean-up right away.

Police were made aware of what they described as a landslip on the B3400, in Whitchurch, at 1.41am today (Saturday). They passed the matter onto Hampshire Highways.

Though the landslip caused disruption, vehicles were still able to use the road this morning, including the 76 bus between Andover and Basingstoke.

An image of the burst bank was shared on social media, with commenters weighing in with their thoughts on the matter.

One person wrote: “Gosh, has the whole side completely collapsed.”

Another added: “I’ve been watching that get worse over the last few weeks. The whole fence has been leaning more and more so guessed it was only a matter of time until it gave way.”
