A DRUGS courier for a County Lines network operating in Basingstoke and Tadley has been jail for four years.

Kahan Hasan Has, Hertfordshire, appeared at Salisbury Crown Court yesterday (October 24) where he was found guilty by a majority verdict of two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

The court heard how the 22-year-old was recruited by the WEZ Network – a County Lines operation running drugs in the borough – to drive dealers from London to the Basingstoke and Tadley area.

As previously reported in the Gazette the gang exploited vulnerable people in the area and made up to £2,000 a day.

Evidence read out in the court by prosecutor Mark Ruffell said that police arrested the defenanted on November 19, 2018 for his part he played in the conspiracy.

Mr Ruffell told the court that on June 17, 2018 “Kahan Has drove Ahmet Karagozlu, Ozlem Simsek to Tadley.”

As previously reported Karagozlu, of Stow Crescent, Walthamstow was convicted for playing a leading role in the conspiracy and sentenced to eight years and eight months in May this year.

The court also heard when Has was making trips from an address in the Wembley area to the Basingstoke area he was travelling at speeds of upwards of 90mph.

On one occasion he was clocked driving at 121mph.

From the evidence heard Has had on numerous occasions after June 17, either drove drugs or people carrying drugs from London to Basingstoke and back.

Has was sentenced to four years for two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and banned from driving for four years.

The drug runner has become the 13th person to be convicted in relation to the WEZ Network, totally 58 years in jail.
