A FORMER apprentice at Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) has been named the winner of the 'Apprentice Award' at the 2019 Hampshire Education Awards, which took place at The Great Hall, Winchester on Wednesday 9 October.

Sky Caves, now a Learning Technologist at BCoT, won the award in recognition of her skills in using technology to support and enhance student learning experiences.

After completing a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media with the college in 2018, Sky was offered a full-time position within BCoT's Digital Team to continue helping staff and students use digital tools more effectively, and deliver training and digital teaching resources.

Anthony Bravo, Principal of BCoT, said: "I would like to congratulate Sky on this well-deserved award. We are one of the leading apprenticeship providers in the region and Sky is a fantastic example of how studying an apprenticeship with BCoT can lead to a successful career. We are extremely proud and privileged to have Sky as a member of staff at BCoT."

The Hampshire Education Awards were established in 2018 as a way of recognising and celebrating the contribution of staff and volunteers within Hampshire's education system.
