A MAN who was refused entry to a nightclub stole a clipboard from a bouncer and ran down the street swearing at staff, a court has heard.

Charlie Palmer, 22 of Windmill Road, Mortimer, “took umbrage” to being banned from Fever and Boutique in Winchester Street, so took the clipboard, which included security information.

He was chased down the street by staff on February 16, swearing at them.

“He intended to throw it away to inconvenience the club,” said prosecutor Katie Prince.

Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court heard on Thursday morning that Palmer put the clipboard down, getting it wet and resulting in it having to be thrown away.

Defence solicitor Jack Beard said: “The whole thing is fairly straightforward.

“He agrees he was angry.”

When the self-employed chef was arrested and searched by police, they found cannabis on his possession.

Appearing at court wearing a green hoodie, Palmer pleaded guilty to theft and possession of class B drugs, and was ordered to pay a total of £225.

He was given a £50 fine for the theft, and had to pay £10 in compensation.

He was also fined £50 for possession of cannabis, which was forfeited and destroyed.

Palmer will also have to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and £85 costs.
