This week, Millers Ark Farm brought animals into The Ashwood Academy in support of World Mental Health Day.

The visit took place on Tuesday 8th October where the farm brought pigs, ducks, donkeys, goats, silky chickens and hissing geese. The animals were situated at the back of the school and all students were given the opportunity to spend time with them.

Four students were lucky enough to get to be helpers for the day. They were chosen due to their experience, effort in lessons and leadership skills. These students got to help feed, look after and handle the animals. Then, each class got to spend a lesson with the animals where they could pet, hold and feed them.

Sarah, who organised the day, said, 'It was a really positive day. There were lots of smiley faces around the school and it had a positive impact on mental health.'

We are continuing to support World Mental Health Day throughout the rest of the week, supporting YoungMinds with their #helloyellow campaign on Thursday and having off-timetable well-being sessions on Friday afternoon.
