A PROLIFIC thief who stole blow-up hot tubs and bottles of spirits while on a community sentence has been jailed.

Martin David De-Sandfort Shortell-Campbell, of no fixed abode, but is from Basingstoke, went on a crime spree in July this year targeting several shops in Andover.

Between July 1 and 28 he stole from Iceland, Waitrose, Asda and Homebase stealing £583.24 worth of spirits.

The 37-year-old also stole two Lazy Spas from Homebase costing £798.

On July 10 and 28 he also used threatening behaviour towards two men.

At Basingstoke Magistrates Court on October 10 he pleaded guilty to the spree and the court heard that it was committed while he was subject to a community sentence.

And magistrates heard that he also targeted three Tesco Express stores in Charlton Village, Compton Square, Weyhill Road and Anton Mill Road in September.

He stole goods worth over £269.55.

Magistrates jailed Shortell-Campbell for 20 weeks as they deemed the offences so serious.
