A MAN who was caught dumping soil and stones in Old Basing has been ordered to pay more than £900 for fly-tipping.
Daniel Korpa-Ondo, of Aldworth Crescent, South Ham, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on October 3 where he pleaded guilty to the fly-tipping offence.
The court heard how the 36-year-old was spotted by a member of the public dumping soil and stones he had taken from his house to a clearing off Redbridge Lane, Old Basing.
During interview he admitted dumping soil and stones from his rear garden on two separate occasions at Redbridge Lane.
Magistrates fined Korpa-Ondo £243 and ordered him to pay £650 towards prosecution costs, plus a £44 victim surcharge.
Cabinet Member for environment and enforcement at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Cllr Hayley Eachus said: “We take fly-tipping very seriously and will prosecute where we have sufficient evidence to do so. It is important that people report to us if they witness incidents of fly-tipping.”
If you see anyone dumping waste illegally, they are asked to contact the borough council on 01256 844844.
