RESIDENTS in South Ham are currently affected by a broadband outage after an earlier road accident.

It's believed that the issues occured when a car hit the green distribution box on the side of the road.

A Gazette source says he believes that 200 homes have been affected.

Since then, engineers have been trying to restore coverage, and it's hoped that resident's internet connections will be restored this evening.

A spokesperson for Openreach said: "Our infrastructure was badly damaged in the road traffic accident and we are aware that a number of customers have been out of service.

"Our engineers have made the equipment safe and have been working hard to get it back into full working order.

"We expect everything back to normal by this evening. If any customers have any further problems with their phones or broadband, they need to call their broadband provider in the first instance, Openreach will then be notified.

"We'd like to thank the residents of South Ham for their patience."
