PIZZA lovers in Basingstoke have "nothing to worry about", according to the assistant manager of Basingstoke's Pizza Express store.

People took to social media on Monday to express their horror at news that Pizza Express could be about the go bust.

The company is in talks with creditors with a financial advisory company saying that the chain had £1.6 million of debt for every restaurant.

However, the assistant manager of the Festival Place's store said that there was nothing to worry about.

"I can assure you that there isn't anything to worry about and that Pizza Express will be here for a very long time," Brendan told the Gazette.

"We have had talks with our operations managers and they have told us that there is nothing to worry about."

The company has two stores in Basingstoke, one in Festival Place and another just off Winchester Road, on the Brighton Hill roundabout.
