RAILWAY users are seeing journey times extended by up to an hour due to planned engineering works.

The work is being carried out over the weekend on the railway network between Basingstoke Railway Station and Woking.

Meaning people travelling are having to rely on replacement bus services instead.

The planned work is due to last until tomorrow evening.

However, some passengers have said that what would usually be a short journey is taking up to twice as long.

On Twitter @chris19052 posted: “@SW_Help is there any chance that you can ask your rail replacement coach drivers taking people from Woking to Basingstoke to take the shortest direct route? A 30min journey is taking 1hr 07mins because the driver has taken down a route that has huge tailbacks.”
