EIGHT teams from a PR agency in Hook have gone head to head in a Great British Bake Off style competition - with the end results going on sale in aid of the Ark Cancer Centre.

Whiteoaks International took place in the bake off, which has been described as GBBO meets Bake Off The Professionals, on Monday.

Each member of the team either added at least one part to an overall baking masterpiece, as in Bake Off The Professionals, or bake their own within a group theme (like GBBO).

They were joined by Patisserie Chef Adrian Culver from Newlyns Cookery School in North Warnborough who judged the competition and crowned the Whiteoaks Star Baker.

He said: “Everyone clearly put in a huge amount of effort and free time into their bakes. This Bake Off competition is a really worthwhile cause, both in raising money for the charity and in encouraging people to get into the kitchen and bake. Everyone loves cake after all!

“I awarded Star Baker to Emma Walker who contributed to the ‘Temple of Chocolate’, because hers had a lightness of taste and every element was so moreish. And first prize went to the Constellation bake, as the standard of each bake was consistently high, and it was clear that a lot of thought went into them.”

After the judging, the cakes went on sale at lunchtime.

Suzanne Griffiths, Managing Director, said: “I’m really impressed by the effort and standard of the bakes that each of our eight teams made for today’s Great British Bake Off meets Bake Off the Professionals challenge.

"We were delighted to welcome Adrian Culver from Newlyns Cooker School as our Team Bake Off judge and even more delighted to have raised £222 from the sale of our bakes and that contributed to a grand total raised so far this year of £1,473 for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.”
