Olympian gold medallist Dani Rowe visited Ashwood recently to talk to students about her cycling career.

Rowe spoke to students on Friday 20th September as part of team GB's partnership with Aldi. She gave a 30 minute assembly then welcomed questions from students.

Rowe's career highlight happened on what she referred to as 'super Saturday' when she, along Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell, won gold in team pursuit. Talking about that day, Rowe commented that her 'life changed overnight' and 'all the sacrifice was worth it'.

Rowe told students about a bad accident she had when she fell off her bike and a fellow competitor landed on top of her. This resulted in her breaking ten ribs and ending up in intensive care. However, she didn't let that hold her back. She started training again in hospital and last year won the commonwealth games in Australia.

After the assembly, Rowe posed for photographs with students and was happy to answer any questions.
