STAFF at a Basingstoke day nursery were all smiles after maintaining it ‘good’ standards following an Ofsted inspection.

Kiddi Caru Day Nursery, in Broadmere Road, Beggarwood, maintained its high standards when the education watchdog visited the site in August.

The day nursery received a ‘good’ rating in all five categories in which it is inspected on.

During the visit the inspector praised the nursery team for being resourceful and providing key learning opportunities for the children in their care.

In the inspectors report it read: “Staff develop a deeper understanding of how to promote children's speech and language skills.

“The management team uses additional funding to benefit children and works closely with other professionals to ensure that all children make good progress relative to their starting points.”

The inspector also noted that the staff at the site create an environment which is “warm and welcoming” and that they help develop children’s self-esteem.

Staff were seen to accurately observe and assess children's progress and reflect on their individual learning needs.

The report continued: “Children are learning how healthy foods affect their bodies. For example, younger children explore the textures of fruit and vegetables during role play and staff use opportunities such as these to talk about the benefits of eating nutritious foods.”

Sally Newell, regional support manager, at Kiddi Caru Day Nursery Basingstoke, said, “We are delighted with the inspector’s comments, reflecting how dedicated and passionate our team are to providing the best care to the children in our nursery.”

However, despite the high praise, the inspector noted that improvements still had to be made to improve the rating further.

The inspector added: “Some staff do not use all opportunities to share this information with other staff that spend time working directly with their key children, to help them maximise children's learning at every opportunity.”
