A MAN has died after being struck by a train.
British Transport Police (BTP) and medical services were called to an incident on the railway line between Basingstoke and Farnborough to reports that a person had been hit by train.
However, the person was declared dead at the scene at 12.45pm yesterday (September 7).
The identity of the person has been confirmed and his next of kin have been informed, however, the incident is being treated as non-suspicious.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "BTP officers were called to Crown Lane, in Basingstoke, on Saturday after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
"Officers from the BTP and medical emergency teams attended the incident, and at 12.34pm a male person was declared deceased.
“The identity of the male has been confirmed and next of kin have been notified.
"The incident is being treated as non-suspicious."
All lines between Basingstoke and Farnborough were blocked while emergency services dealt with the incident, causing disruption until approximately 9pm.
BTP is conducting an investigation into the events surrounding the incident.
