A PAIR of properties near the Berkshire-Hampshire border were targeted by burglars this week in what are believed to be two separate incidents.

The first took place on Wednesday, August 28, at around 9.55am when a man was found inside a property at Hollington Lane, near Highclere.

The man was spotted by the occupant having got in through the rear door and explained that he “wanted directions to a nearby location”, police say.

No items were taken from the address.

The man is described as 32-38 years old, medium to heavy build, clean shaven with shaved blonde hair and was wearing a blue pair of shorts and blue vest. He was seen walking back up to the front gate and leaving in a vehicle heading towards Church Road.

Later that same day a second incident was reported at a residential property in Well Street, Newtown.

Unknown persons gained entry through a rear door and after an untidy search stole a number of items. It is believed the burglary took place at around 11.40am.

Police have appealed for help with both incidents.

Anyone who might have seen or heard anything suspicious or may have CCTV footage that can be checked should contact the police on 101.
