A THEATRE company is encouraging more people to experience the world of performing arts by offering discounted tickets for its autumn season.

The Proteus Theatre Company, based in Council Road, Top of The Town, will be offering theatre loves a £5 ticket to attend shows during their autumn season.

The offer will be available for a limited time when members of the theatre group will be holding a stall at the Top of Town on Wednesday, September 4 from 9.30am, where the tickets will be able to be purchased.

Marketing manager at the Proteus Theatre Company, Mary George, said: “This was an idea that our friends at Camden People’s Theatre trialled a while ago, with great success, to engage with their local community and make seeing a performance at their venue really accessible and affordable.

“As the Creation Space is outside of the immediate town centre and in a former Victorian school building, we can often go a bit under-the-radar.

“We thought this would be a great way for us to meet local people going about their daily business who may not have heard of us and let them know about the breadth of activities that happen within this community arts centre, right on their doorstep. By offering an allocation of tickets for each performance in the season for just £5, we hope to encourage people to come enjoy something they might not ordinarily experience.”

These special £5 tickets for this season’s performances are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and, in true market-style, will be payable in cash only.

During the autumn season the creation space will play host to a wide range of different shows including Lucy Gamsby-Frost with Prison Factory Cult Circus.
