The 28-year-old roads policing officer who had recently got married was fatally 'dragged' by a vehicle.

Yesterday Thames Valley Police launched a murder inquiry, arresting ten men between the ages of 13 and 30.

It has now emerged kind-hearted PC Harper had recently started a fundraising appeal to raise money for organisation Children with Cancer UK.

The constable has now surpassed his target of £500 and raised an incredible £10,160 posthumously.

People all over the country have left donations in memory to the officer.

One anonymous donor wrote: "As the family of a retired police officer, we are only too aware of the risks of the job.

"With this small donation hopefully some good will come from this tragedy. Our thoughts are with everyone who knew Andrew."

Another added: "Deeply saddened by the loss of PC Andrew Harper.

"Our emergency services deserve respect and appreciation for the amazing work they do. And my sincere condolences to the family of this young man."

PC Harper was due to take part in The Dirty Challenge 2020 where he would have ran for 20 miles before completing an obstacle course.

His fundraising page reads: "Nobody deserves to experience the devastating impacts of cancer, but especially not children.

"Thankfully I've never had to experience the effects of child cancer but there are many who are not so lucky...

"Every day 12 families in the UK receive the devastating news that their child has cancer.

"Through funding vital specialist research, Children with Cancer UK give children the best chance to survive. They help drive up childhood cancer survival rates and find kinder, more effective treatments to reduce long-term side effects. This ground breaking research saves children's lives and would otherwise go unfunded.

"Knowing treatment can be especially challenging for family life, Children with Cancer UK also helps fund patient family accommodation near hospitals so families can stay together during their children's treatment. They also organise unforgettable days out for children and their families to create memories that will never be lost.

"Personally I have never been much of a runner - the longest I've ever done to date being 10K however I have decided to run this 20 mile, 200 obstacle course route to try and help save the lives of children with cancer and keep families together. Even if only one child benefits then it will be well and truly worth it.

"Wherever possible, please support me in this goal and help us fight for those who can't fight for themselves. Thank you."
