FUNDRAISERS are being invited to put on their pyjamas in a bid to raise money.

The annual St Michael’s Hospice Moonlight Walk returns to the town on October 12, and this year it will be one big sleepover.

This year’s event, which sees fundraisers set off from Porchester Square in Festival Place at 10pm, has the theme of Pyjama Party.

Walkers dressed in pyjamas and onesies will walk 8.5 miles around Basingstoke before returning to Festival Place to collect their well-earned finisher medals and refreshments.

Last year 475 walkers took part in the event which was themed around all things 1980s.

Megan Parry, events coordinator at the hospice said, “Following last year’s incredible 80’s themed Moonlight Walk there is a fantastic buzz about our 2019 Pyjama Party themed event.

“Our Hospice Fundraising team are so excited that we’ve already held a pyjama day in our office. To add to the party atmosphere on the night, we have lots of fun activities including glitter face painting and a photo booth at Festival Place for our walkers to enjoy before setting off.”

Megan added: “Last year, 475 walkers took part in our Moonlight Walk and we hope to smash this number along with our fundraising target of £25,000.

“We are so grateful to everyone who takes part in our Hospice events, with the money raised helping to fund the specialist care and support we provide to our patients and their families facing life limiting illness across North Hampshire.”

All the money raised from the event goes to the hospice to help provide of the highest quality and standard of specialist palliative care for patients in north Hampshire.

The event is open to men, women and children who wish to take part.
