EMERGENCY services were called to a warehouse fire near Basingstoke Hospital last night. 

Firefighters rushed to the scene shortly before 7pm after a derelict warehouse was up in flames. 

Passersby reported seeing four fire engines blocking off the road to tend to the blaze.

A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: "The call came in at 18:51 yesterday.

"A derelict warehouse containing clothing and wood was found with smoke and flames.

"Basingstoke crews used two breathing apparatus’, one hose reel jet, and one positive pressure ventilation level.

"The stop message came in at 19:37."
