A TEAM from the trust responsible for health services across Hampshire has been recognised at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust’s North and West Hampshire Respiratory Service attended the Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialist Conference.

There they were named runner up for the Respiratory Team of the Year award for their hard work towards the treatment of patients with pulmonary conditions.

One of the team’s recent highlights has been the development of Continuous Improvement Groups - multi-professional groups of staff which gather evidence, service data, patient and staff feedback to help develop the service - and the Nursing Home Education programme.

This three-day programme for nursing home staff aims to allow them to develop different skills and knowledge in order to better support patients.

Respiratory service lead Rachel Hardstaff said: “I am so proud of what the team has achieved. This award is a testament to the hard work, dedication and professionalism of them all."

“We receive more than 2,000 referrals and hold almost 10,000 appointments so this team do incredible work with our patients to make sure they receive the best possible care.

“We began the service in 2015 and have continuously developed so we cover every aspect of patient support.

“Our main remit is for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease but we also see a range of respiratory patients for pulmonary rehabilitation and oxygen support.”
