FITNESS classes, pamper sessions and meals out are all up for grabs in a charity raffle.

On Friday, 21 June, the community will unite on Ark Day, raising money for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

As media sponsor the Gazette has teamed up with a host of businesses to hold a charity raffle, with all the money raised being donated to the Ark.

The raffle will be held to coincide with the culmination of Ark Day, the day-long fundraising event which aims to give everyone in the borough the chance to make a big difference to the charity campaign, which the people of the town are at the heart of, helping to raise the £5 million needed to fund a much-needed NHS cancer treatment centre at Basingstoke hospital.

As a way to celebrate people’s fundraising efforts, an inter-sports match between Basingstoke Town Football Club and Basingstoke Rugby Club will be held at Basingstoke Rugby Club, in Down Grange, Pack Lane from 7pm.

During the course of the event, the Gazette team will hold the raffle where the host of prizes will be handed out.

Sales manager at the Gazette, Amy Waissen, said: “The support from businesses has been great and I want to thank all the businesses who have donated prizes.

“The Ark Cancer Centre Charity is has done amazing work to raise more than £2 million so far, and Ark Day is such a good way to support the charity, that is why we wanted to get involved raise further awareness of the fundraising day.”

Prizes have been donated from a range of different sectors across the borough.

Health and fitness providers are putting forward three month memberships, a five-class pass and bootcamp sessions. Elsewhere, there are afternoon teas and meal vouchers, and offers from beauty and hair styling outlets.

Raffle tickets cost £5 per strip and can be purchased by emailing amy.waissen@localiq.co.uk or calling 01256 337451.
