A FATHER-of-two went well above par on a charity golf day- not on his score, but with the amount he raised.

Ed Kemp, from Basingstoke, managed to raised £8,500 for Sebastian’s Action Trust, which supports seriously-ill young children, young people and their families.

His family - wife Sarah, son Matthew, seven, and daughter Charlotte, five - are supported by the trust.

A total of 124 players descended on Weybrook Park Golf Club on Sunday, 26 May to play.

Before the event, Ed set up an online auction with lots that had been donated from top sports stars, including England’s number one female golfer, Georgia Hall, and Tommy Fleetwood.

Auction prizes also included golf games at Sunningdale Golf Club, Berkshire, Pennard Golf Club, Wales, and Loughrea Golf Club in Ireland, as well as a Mizuno golf bag, a bungee jump voucher from Red Letter Days and a Ryder Cup Flag which was signed by Ryder Cup players.

The money raised will go towards helping the trust care for the 522 families across the south east that the charity supports.

Jane Gates OBE, Sebastian’s Action Trust’s CEO, said: “We are absolutely delighted by the amazing effort that Ed went to in raising £8,500 which will go towards us supporting seriously-ill children, young people and their families.

“Coming from one of our family of families, Ed has done a such great job in organising this fundraiser, in addition to looking after a family of his own. We are incredibly grateful this fantastic donation.”

Ed said: “I can’t believe how much support I had for the day. From Porsche Centre, Reading, through to legendary golfers such as Ian Poulter and Nick Faldo and world trick shot champion Geoff Swain - all I can say is the golfing community has been amazing.

“I was astounded at the amount of people who gave their time to attend what turned out to be an incredible day. It couldn’t have gone any better.”

World golf trick shot competition champion, Geoff Swain, took part, and also performed some his famous tricks.
