RESIDENTS are set to be given the chance to see the inside workings of the NHS trust which runs Basingstoke hospital.

As part of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Annual General Meeting, which will take place at Basingstoke hospital on Tuesday, 16 July, members of the public are invited to book a place on special tours.

On these tours, visitors will find out more about radiology services, including x-ray, CT scans, and ultrasounds to see first-hand the technology used to care for patients each day.

During the community event, an interactive exhibition will also be open to visitors, offering the chance to talk to experts from a range of departments across the trust, which runs Basingstoke hospital, Andover War Memorial Hospital and Royal Hampshire County Hospital, in Winchester.

Visitors can also try their hand at a clinical skills test, talk to experts from a range of hospital departments, including the teams which run the emergency departments in Basingstoke and Winchester, learn about how Hampshire Hospitals is ‘going green’ and more.

Elsewhere, orthopaedic consultant Kevin Conn will host a talk on the evolution of surgery in his field and some of the major advances which are improving the lives of patients.

Mr Conn is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Hampshire Hospitals, with a particular interest in lower limb surgery and is also a staff governor of the trust, representing medical and dental staff.

The free event will take place at The Ark, at Basingstoke hospital, on Tuesday, 16 July and is open to all, though spaces on the radiology tours are limited.

The exhibition will get underway from 5.30pm, before the talks begin at 7pm.
