I AM a Scout from Pafupi unit in Kempshott, Basingstoke, and in my time as a Scout I have been given many opportunities from which I have learnt valuable lifeskills.

I am lucky enough to have been chosen to go to the USA on the World Scout Jamboree, a camp of more than 40,000 young people age 14 to 18, taking place this summer.

In my unit I have made new friends for life and continued to learn and have fun.

The leaders that run the group I am going with, have helped me to expand my knowledge and prepare me for challenges I will face later in life.

We have had lots of fun as a group and I am sure that this summer will be a trip of a lifetime that none of us will ever forget.

Seeing the adults around me put in so much effort to help me and my peers has inspired me to put something back in so that other people can have the same opportunities that I have.

As a result of this, at Christmas I became a young leader at my local Cub pack and by pulling from my own experience and that of the adults around me I hope to make young people enjoy scouting for many years to come.

Overall my experiences as a scout are truly amazing and I can see the enjoyment on the faces of everyone around me at all the scouting events I go to.
