PUBLIC toilets in Odiham have reopened following investment from the parish council.

The toilets, based in King Street, reopened at the start of June, following a period of closure for refurbishment from April 1.

Odiham Parish Council invested around £40,000 in the refurbishment of the facilities.

Former councillor Craig Worboys championed the project through its development.

He said: “While many councils have chosen to close public conveniences to save a few pounds, Odiham is lucky that our community owns ours and have chosen to keep this valued amenity.

“However they have been in desperate need for refurbishment - a project that the community have wanted to see happen for some time. Having found the funding, we embarked on the project to enhance them last year following overwhelming public support.

“As our High Street faces continued pressure small improvements can make a big difference.

“Although I stood down from the parish council in May, I was keen to see the project through and look to the new parish council to find other initiatives to help our High Street thrive.”
