AN EVENING full of nostalgia is set to be held at the Willis Museum.

Music, fashion, film and games will all be on display to mark the opening of a new exhibition at the Top of The Town museum titled 'I Grew Up 80s.'

The launch night, on June 21, is also the first event of this year’s Basingstoke Festival, which aims to promote art and culture within the town.

Visitors to the evening will receive an 1980s-inspired goody bag, included within the ticket price, which will include a custom badge kit, Rubik’s Cube and a free drink.

Paul Fitzgerald, otherwise known as The Human Juke Box, will be performing three 30-minute sets of classic 80s hits to revive old-school anthems throughout the evening.

A speed-cubing masterclass will offer advice on how to solve the Rubik’s Cube for those in need of help.

Visitors will also be able to take a selfie while dressed in some iconic styles of clothes from the decade.

Two family films, Ghostbusters and ET, will also be screened on the top floor of the Willis Museum.

The 80s theme will continue outside the Willis Museum with a silent disco organised by Basingstoke Festival.

Jenny Stevens, venue manager at the Willis Museum, which is operated by Hampshire Cultural Trust, said: “I Grew Up 80s opening night will give visitors the opportunity to wallow in 80s nostalgia.

“With live music, interactive games and over 200 items on display, it has something for the whole family to enjoy.”

Ticket prices for the event, which starts at 5.30pm cost £15 for an adult and £10 for a child.

A family ticket is also available for the event, costing £35.
