A NEW 24-hour fitness centre is set to open its doors in the autumn.

After being granted planning approval from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, the Gym Group has begun work on the site of its new facility in St Michael’s Retail Park, in Brighton Hill.

The new facility will join the Gym Group’s current portfolio of 169 sites around the county.

The application for the site was approved by members of the borough council stating that it offered residents a health and fitness alternative which was needed in the borough.

The new facility will offer 24-hour access to an array of equipment in a state-of-the-art gym which is ‘bright, clean and safe.’

Despite a number of objections from residents, the borough council approved the application.

General manager of the new Basingstoke site Luke Turner said: “We’re really excited to be bringing The Gym Group’s award-winning gym offering to Basingstoke and welcoming new members through the doors in the autumn.

“We’re looking forward to supporting the community and helping people reach their fitness goals. Our personal trainers will be on the gym floor to provide tours, inductions and providing a helping hand to our new members.

“There’s also a fantastic range of free classes for members to enjoy which is all included in the low monthly price. There really is no excuse not to join and get in shape with our team of friendly fitness experts.”

John Treharne, founder director of The Gym Group, added: “We deliver a ‘what you see is what you get’ service.”
