A FIRE broke out this morning at a recycling incinerator, which is currently closed for maintenance.
Fighterfighters were called to the Veolia site in Whitmarsh Lane, Chineham, at 9.07am today (June 10).
Reports indicated that the fire had started in a building at the site and none of the materials to be recycled at the site were affected.
Crews from Basingstoke, Tadley, Hartley Wintney, Kingsclere, Rushmoor and Alton fire stations attended the scene.
Members of Hampshire Fire and Rescue’s incident command unit also attended to assess the environmental impact of the incident, but as the fire was contained to the building, no action was needed.
There was no clear indication as to what caused the fire.
Crews stood down at 11.41am.
