A FREEFOLK plant nursery capped off a busy spring with its annual charity open day last weekend after another successful showing at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants, in Priory Lane, won its 24th Chelsea Flower Show gold medal on May 21, just a day after one of its new plants –Digitalis ‘Firebird’ – finished second in the show’s Plant of the Year award.
The Firebird was on display at Sunday’s charity open day, which featured talks on how the nursery breeds its plants and a behind the scenes tour of the facility.
Teas, coffees and homemade cakes were also on sale, with all proceeds going to the nursery’s chosen charity, Naomi House and Jacksplace.
The nursery has further upcoming events planned, including a talk from the Little Honey Bee Company on Thursday, June 20.
