A MAN from Basingstoke has died following a collision on the A30 in Devon yesterday (May 30).

Emergency services were called at around 2.20pm to the incident on the Honiton-bound carriageway of the road.

A six-year-old girl sustained minor injuries in the collision.

A Grey Audi S3 and a white DAF articulated lorry initially collided before a white VW motor caravan then hit the rear of the articulated lorry.

The driver of the VW Motor Caravan, a 36-year-old man from the Basingstoke area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The six-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the VW Motor Caravan, was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital to be treated for her injuries and she was later discharged.

Devon and Cornwall Police local officers, as well as officers from its Roads Policing Team, and Serious Collision Investigation Team, attended the scene on the eastbound carriageway of the A30 with investigations ongoing.

The driver of the Audi, a 56-year-old female from Budleigh Salterton, and the driver of the DAF Lorry, a 54-year-old male from the Bristol area, were uninjured.

The A30 was closed in both directions for most of the night before it was reopened to motorists this morning.
