A MAN with disabilities from Oakridge has been recognised for his efforts in losing weight.

Aaron Alger was presented with Slimming World's Man of the Year award for the Oakridge group, after losing a total of three stone and 11.5 pounds over the course of the year, having joined in January 2018.

Aaron, who has Downs Syndrome and celiac disease, was presented with the award on Saturday, 18 May.

Oakridge group organiser, Lynn Rich, said: “It was a massive personal achievement for him and I was so pleased for him when I read out the award.

“It was very inspiring, and he has been a ray of sunshine for the whole time that he has been here, and has lost weight every week he has been here.”

“He has been so determined and wants to do well each week.”

The winner of the other Man of the Year Award was Mike Clare.
