A MEMBER of RAF Odiham has completed a day-long exercise challenge.

On April 1, Cpl Terry Kynaston completed a 24-hour physical challenge to raise money for veteran's health charity Combat Stress.

The challenge consisted of 24 different Crossfit style workouts which started on the hour every hour for 24-hours.

Each workout was composed of different types of exercise, incorporating high intensity interval training, Olympic lifts, plyometrics and powerlifting.

Some workouts were completed in under 10 minutes, others to up to 40 minutes to finish.

Cpl Kynaston was accompanied throughout the challenge by friends and colleagues on Stn, including a team from the Regional Medical Centre and individuals from Catering Flight and the Army Air Corps.

A small hardcore group even stayed to complete workouts alongside Kynaston throughout the night.

Setting a target of £1,000, Cpl Kynaston smashed that by raising a total of £1,295.91.

Cpl Kynaston handed over a cheque to the charity on May 8.

Regional manager of Combat Stress, Jo Easom, said: "I can’t thank Cpl Kynaston enough for his hard work in raising this fantastic amount of money for our organisation.

"PTSD is alarmingly high among veterans who served in combat and every year, more than 2,000 new veterans ask us for help with trauma-related mental health problems."

Cpl Kynaston said: “Organising this whole event was extremely rewarding and I’m astonished by the support I received throughout the event not to mention the generosity of all who donated towards this cause.”
