A BASINGSTOKE woman is making children’s dreams come true by arriving at their party dressed as their favourite Disney princess.

Jade Armitage has now quit her job as a nursery worker to focus on her business full-time, for which she dresses up as different Disney characters to entertain children at birthday parties or events.

The 36-year-old joked: “I’m the oldest Disney princess on the block!”

Jade’s business A Message From started out with her recording video messages to send to children on their birthday, dressed as Elsa from Frozen, and she received requests from all over the world thanks to her likeness to the character.

But she has since developed it to run her own birthday parties as different characters, including Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

“It’s become really busy every single weekend and if I’m doing three different characters in one day it’s a bit crazy,” said Jade, who said she has always loved dressing up, adding: “I’ve always been a fancy-dress person and wanted fancy dress themed birthdays.”

But Jade said the costumes can sometimes be a little uncomfortable, particularly at a recent event when she was dressed as Tinkerbell and based outside all day in the cold.

“I was wearing a skimpy costume, but I was really committed to the character,” she said.

It takes Jade around an hour to perfect each look, but she said it was worth the effort to see the joy from the children when she arrives, adding: “I know it’s super cheesy but it’s so lovely to see the children’s faces when I turn up as their idol, that’s the best part. And what’s not to love about dressing up as a princess!”

Jade, who has just moved from Basingstoke to Didcot, still returns to the town frequently for parties, and said: “I’ve built up a nice following in Basingstoke and people pass on their recommendations which is nice.”

Her parties include parachute games, pass the parcel and glitter tattoos.
