AS ANOTHER Bank Holiday weekend looms, we've found a selection of things to do to get out and about across the Basingstoke area.

All weekend

  • Four Kingdoms, near Headley, is hosting a Fairytales and Unicorns-themed weekend from Saturday to Monday. See 4-kingdoms.co.uk/events-at-4-kingdoms-adventure-play.
  • The Vyne, near Sherbourne St John, has a selection of ongoing events for all the family to enjoy.Go to nationaltrust.org.uk/the-vyne.
  • Finkley Down Farm, Andover, is hosting a Unicorn Weekend on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Meet the Finkley Unicorns and follow the Unicorn Trail to win a prize. Events taking place throughout the day. Go to finkleydownfarm.co.uk.

Saturday

  • Basingstoke parkrun starts at 9am at War Memorial Park. No cost to take part, but register beforehand via parkrun.org.uk/basingstoke.
  • Berry Bros. & Rudd's free Spring Food and Drink Festival at its warehouse shop in Houndmills runs from 10am to 5pm. The festival will showcase a selection of artisan food and spirits, including charcuterie from Parsonage Farm, gin from Gorilla Spirits and whisky from the Cotswolds Distillery. The company will also be offering up to 40 per cent off a range of bin-end wines.
  • Doh Doh, the Play-Doh mascot, will be in store at The Entertainer throughout the day to meet young shoppers.
  • An indoor car boot sale is being held at the Viables Community Centre, in Harrow Way, from 9.15am to 11.15am. Entry 20p per adult.
  • Also at the community centre, from 1pm to 3pm, it is the Saturday Art Club for children aged between five and 12, featuring two hours of creative fun.   • Local author Helen Matthews will be at WHSmith in The Malls from 11am to 3pm signing copies of her latest psychological suspense novel Lies Behind the Ruin.
  • An indoor table top sale will be held at St Andrews Methodist Church, in Western Way, from 1.30pm to 4pm. Free entry.
  • Overton Rugby Club will host a men’s 15-a-side rugby tournament as part of the club's 2019 festival. There will also be a fully stocked bar and a barbecue on offer. Search ‘ORFC 2019 Festival’ on Facebook for more information.
  • It is film night at The Link, Tadley Community Centre, in Newchurch Road, Tadley, with Stan and Ollie being shown from 7pm. Entry £6 for non-members and £5 for members. Go to t-d-c-a.org.uk.

Sunday

  • THE Rotten Hill Cup returns this at Longmeadow Sports Ground, in Whitchurch. Gates open at 1pm, with the Whitchurch vs Overton under 13s match at 2pm and the over 40s game from 4pm. Tickets cost £5 for adults and £1 for children. Money raised in aid of Whitchurch and Overton United Football Clubs and the Kingfisher Day Centre at Laverstoke.
  • Basingstoke Area Youth Orchestra is at the Anvil from 7pm. Eight of the Basingstoke Area Youth Ensembles, and choirs from several local schools, featuring over 300 of the area’s most talented instrumentalists and singers, present a showcase performance for all the family.   • The Fox Inn, in Ellisfield, is holding its regular pub quiz on Sunday evening, starting at 7pm

Monday

  • Walk ‘Off the Beaten Track,’ by permission of Viscount Lymington, a 5k walk, mainly on private land through beautiful countryside and bluebell woods to a stunning viewpoint. Starting anytime between 10.30am and 11.15am and finishing at Ellisfield Memorial Hall, where you will find a venison burger and sausage barbecue, cakes and raffle while raising money to preserve the fabric of St Martin’s, Ellisfield and St Andrew’s, Farleigh churches. Entry is £5 per adult, £1 per child up to the age of 16. Well-behaved dogs on leads welcome.
