WHEN raising money to help in the fight against cancer, it can sometimes be a dark subject to address.

However, Basingstoke comedy legend Jan Jack, of Jan Jack’s Laughter-House Comedy Club, has compiled a night of laughs to help raise funds for a cancer charity.

Jan, alongside Unum and Apollo Hotel, will host a Laugh For Ark charity comedy night on August 2 in aid of Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

The night will feature Chris McCausland, Ben Norris, Dan Kielty, Cerys Nelmes, and Jan Jack herself.

Chris has appeared on Live at the Apollo, and is a former guest at one of the monthly Laughter-House comedy nights at the Apollo Hotel hosted by Jan.

Jan said: “I am a long-time supporter of Ark Cancer Centre Charity, and with the support of Paul Fearon and his team at the Apollo Hotel, and the generous sponsorship from Ark Our Partner supporter Unum, we are all delighted to be putting on the charity comedy night to raise funds for Ark’s fundraising campaign.”

Money raised from the Laugh For Ark night will be put towards the £5 million target of the Ark Cancer Centre Charity to build a new cancer treatment centre, to be built on the Basingstoke hospital site.

Apollo Hotel general manager Paul added: “My team and I at Apollo Hotel are delighted that the charity comedy night is following on from the successful 2018 Une Grande Nuit charity gala dinner the Apollo hosted for Ark, in partnership with the Arkriders.

“The August 2 event will be a great laugh and will help to raise further money for, and awareness of, Ark’s campaign to help fund the new NHS cancer treatment centre in Basingstoke.”

Tickets for the over-18s comedy night are £22 and can be bought via wegottickets.com and searching for ‘Laugh For Ark’.
