POLICE are looking for an armed robber who stole from a convenience store on Easter Sunday evening.

The robber, described as wearing flip-flops and a grey bandage on his right hand, entered the McColls shop, in Buckland Avenue, at around 7.40pm.

He threatened a staff member from behind and while no weapon was seen, the member of staff felt a sharp point at his back.

The staff member was forced to open a till from which the robber took £230 and then fled.

The man is described as:

  • white
  • 40 to 50 years of age
  • around 6ft tall
  • of slim build
  • short, brown hair
  • having a bandage on his right hand
  • wearing a grey hooded top, grey jeans and black flip flops
  • carrying a brown satchel over his shoulder.

Detective Constable Chris Phillips said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who thinks they have information on what happened.

“Were you in the area at the time? Do you remember seeing something suspicious?

“Perhaps you saw a man wearing flip-flops, with a bandage on his right hand, in this area? If so, please call us.”
