AN ARREST has been main in connection with three armed robberies.

A 23-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of robbery on Sunday after the incidents in the South Ham area which involved the use of a weapon which resembled a handgun.

The first robbery was at the One Stop shop, in St Michael’s Road, at around 9pm on Monday last week where a man stole cash and threatened a member of staff.

The second was at the Taste of India, in Burnaby Close, between 8.20pm and 8.40pm on Saturday in which a man entered the restaurant and threatened a member of staff with what has been described as a BB gun.

The gun was fired and the staff member sustained a small wound to his neck which required hospital treatment.

The man fled and nothing was taken.

The third robbery took place a day later at the Stop and Shop store, in St Peters Road, between 12.15pm and 12.30pm, where a member of staff was threatened, and cash and cigarettes were stolen.

Police are linking all three incidents and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

In particular, they would like to hear from anyone who might have relevant dash cam or private CCTV footage in the area on the days when the offences took place.
