PAINTINGS ranging from portraits to landscapes, animals to digital art were on display during a two day event.

The Tadley and Baughurst Art Club annual exhibition was held on March 30 and March 31 and saw a steady stream of visitors set eyes on a variety of local artists work.

Visitors to the Ambrose Allen Centre, in Franklin Avenue, were asked after they had viewed all the paintings on display to vote for the most popular exhibit, which was won by Andrea Lawson for her picture “Newman”.

Runner up for most popular exhibit was Jenny Kennish-Inwood with Hannah Monger and Jackie Todd joint third.

As well as the main exhibits, members of the art club had been producing paintings on stones and miniature paintings of the Moon - to commemorate 50 years since the moon landings – as part of the exhibition and these had their own votes with the winners being Daphne Lanham (stone) and Jackie Todd (moon).

In opening the event founding member and vice chair of the club Daphne Lanham entertained members and guests with anecdotes of the early days of the club.

Money collected from this year’s exhibition would go towards supporting Living Paintings who produce their free library of “Touch to See” books bringing pictures and reading to life for blind children and adults – see more at their website livingpaintings.org.

The Tadley and Baughurst Art Club is always pleased to welcome new members and anyone interested in seeing what the club does is invited to join one of its sessions.
